Flushing, New York: The Asian American Federation (AAF) and the Union Street Small Business Association (USSBA), will give away 3,000 reusable tote bags to customers who visit businesses owned by USSBA merchants.
Supported by NYC Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), this promotional event hopes to raise awareness about the plastic bag ban as well promote small businesses along Union Street in Flushing.
Ahyoung Kim, AAF’s Small Business Project Manager, said “Our merchants are worried about the plastic bag ban, as some of them are still waiting for alternative bags to arrive from China. Their businesses are suffering due to the public health scare, and we hope that these bags will encourage customers to support small businesses on Union Street.”
Ikhwan Rim, President of USSBA, said “Business is getting harder by the day for small businesses. We look forward to more support for small businesses from the community, and hope our customers will enjoy the earth-friendly reusable bags that promote small businesses on Union Street.
Customers can get the environmentally-friendly reusable tote bags from USSBA member merchants
with stores located between Roosevelt Ave. and Northern Blvd along the Union Street corridor from
